Question Leaving Alaska for Florida, need advice.

I am planning to move to Florida next month and open up a marine electronics repair shop. I am wondering where there is a need for radar, 2 way radio, and other electronics repairs. From my research so far, Tarpon Springs is looking good; but I don't know if there is enough work. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Good for you !

Hmm......lotta boats here (water water everywhere!).

Others may have some ideas on the biggest areas with marinas and so forth (though really, they are everywhere). Have you tried posting on some boat forums too?

Anyway, just wanted to wish you well !

(I know we have a lot of marinas & boat showrooms in Jax, and of course we're a port city, so lots of different types of boats...hope that helps some)

The Tampa and Fort Lauderdale areas should be your best bets for that business. I'd edge on Tampa(Tarpon Springs). Lauderdale is saturated.

Tarpon Springs is actually really nice in itself, and is also a known Greek enclave, with some of the best Greek food outside of Greece.

Check out the Sarasota/Manatee County area. High income levels, tons of marina's (thus boats). You could also consider working for one of the many marina's here as well, in case you need time to start up your business.
