Default Know any lotto winners?

Has anyone ever won the lotto? I mean like a big jackpot? Without giving out too much info, care to share your story? Or do you know someone who has won a sizeable amount?

The reason why I ask is that I get this impression that Florida has one of the largest collection of lottery winners in the U.S. I've met 3 families that have either won the Fla state lotto or they won in another state and moved here. I had some relatives that won several years ago (they were on the news and we didnt realize it was them until almost a year later). They went through it pretty quick- giving some away, buying property, spending frivolously, saving a little.

Anyone remember this guy? :

I think what that has to do with is the fact that Florida is a desirable place to locate for those with a lot of cash, whether they worked for it, or won it, so of course we are going to attract a lot of lottery winners!

That guy looks like a registered sex offender- LOL!

Check out the stuff that this guy bought! It went up on auction a couple of weeks ago. I don't care how much money I ever win, I don't think I would spend it like this:

Default I know 2!

One was my mailman.....never saw him again after he won !

Another was a family friend who won quite a few million. I can't go into detail, but let's just say his ex-wife probably wishes the divorce paperwork was delayed by a few weeks (seriously!) !

Barbara Scholz is on a distinguished road
My in-laws won 4.6 million 6 years ago. Unfortunatly, they had fallen to the same curse many other lottery winners have. The have over spent and my husbands silblings have all but dwindled that last time. We tried to tell them to stop bailing out the others, and to watch the bottom line, but now the are just under 1 million and have a large mortgage on a 700,000 home, no income, and both are retired and in poor health. It is sad to watch.

There was a show on A&E, I think, about the 'lottery curse'. It was really interesting. I think half of the people featured ended up broke or on drugs or both. What I also never understood was how people sometimes buy things that are SO expensive to maintain- its like, how did you expect to pay the taxes on the mega million dollar home you just bought? Or do you really think you can afford to keep that yacht in good working order? LOL I mean really.

I wish I could win but I'm one of those people that'll say "oh, its only 3 million dollars this week? I'll buy when the jackpot goes over 30 mil". If I won, I wouldn't go on tv or anything either. I'd tell everyone I got a really big raise at work!
