What is your most favorite memory of Florida
Thinking positive thoughts I often wonder what others would consider their absolute favorite memory of Florida, whether you live their or not.

Seagulls
My grandparents lived on a canal in Hudson, Fl....when we would come to visit we would throw bread up in the air and have the seagulls divebomb us. My grandma would fuss about how long after our visits it would take her to get rid of them, but she always had loaves of bread waiting for us.
And sneaking horseshoe crabs in the back of the car and not having mom and dad find them until we got home in Illinois.

The Serpentarium, Fairchild tropical garden, Parrot Jungle, Crandon park, and numerous tacky tourist traps. Cheap fun and no Mc mansions. Going out on Sunset Drive to visit friends and ride dirt bikes. Bowling at Sunset, Don Carter's, Trail and Hialeah. Having friends within walking distance. Being able to understand most people....etc.

Just getting on my bike and me and my friends being gone all day. Fishing, eating fruit from trees and no one worried about us. Life seemed safe and simple.
Also fishing with my dad out on the boat. I caught this Wahoo it was 55 lb.s

My favourite memory was lying on a beach in Sarasota with my husband, on our honeymoon (gosh nearly 15 years ago!!) and listening to the waves....if I have trouble sleeping anytime (I work nights so my sleep pattern is all over the place!) I recreate that memory and it usually works

WOW there are so many memories..... but I guess my favorite ones are of when I was 5 years old. My mom and I would come down to Astor to visit my aunt who lived there at the time.
They had a little house right on the canal and my uncle had a little boat and he would fish all day long.
I remember running around playing at their house and never wanting to go back home to Illinois.
Then they would take me to Daytona Beach and I remember how much I loved standing at the water's edge and feeling like you were moving when you werent really.
I used to think it was magic. I still get that feeling when we go to the beach.

my favorite memory about florida; on saturday october 9th, 2004, my snorkelling class and I took a really cool trip to the dry tortugas/fort jefferson on the sunny day's catamaran. the ride to and from the islands was like literally riding a 3 hour roller coaster. waves were about 3 to 5 feet tall, water was splashing on the windshield, and i had a great time. did a lot of socializing and everything; in fact, thinking of that memory, i even think; what would it have been like to perhaps put a tilt-a-whirl car on top of the boat and having people ride in it? i mean, the boat was really rocking up and down that much! afterwards, I had dinner at the upper crust restaurant on duval street and had an 18 inch multi cheese pizza, as well as the most hilarious waitress in my entire life! (i even have to kick myself for not bringing a regular flash camera with me and taking pictures with her!) as I was eating, she kept watching me and saying "You are NOT gonna eat that whole pizza, are you?!" But eat the whole thing I did! and when she saw the empty platter she like totally laughed and said "you didn't just eat that whole pizza all by yourself!" I laughed and said to her "oh yes i most certainly did! have a wonderful evening!"

my favorite memories are of old fla. we could go out on our bikes (my friends and i) and didnt worry about a thing. ppl were pretty friendly, ppl had lived in the area for a while, it was more simple back then. houses werent piled on top of eachother, i dont remember ppl driving as badly back then, etc...
what happened that changed this place from laid back florida to hustle and bustle?

We were invaded by immigrants and Northeasterners. It's overpopulation and insanity that destroyed Florida.

tallrick, i do agree to some extent. the reason i dont completely agree, is b/c i have family, some of which are from up north, but they've lived here for a long time now. but my family is more floridian than anything else, as they have been here for a while now.
but as far as most newcomers, you are absolutely right.
