You know what? You are just as quick to jump up and blame people for things that aren't necessarily true.

I read the article and was going to give him kudos. I wasn't online this morning.

ETA: The fact that he changed his directive in the face of public outcry gives me a bit of hope that the public does still make a difference.
I'm not sure about the Solantic thing. I have to research that a bit. Someone told me his wife owned a good percentage of the company over and above what was transferred to her. I don't know if that's true. If it is, him selling his own shares doesn't mean anything. If it isn't than the situation is definitely positive.

I'm sure there will be some who will still find fault with these decisions but I see them as evidence that the public still has a voice in government.
It's a sign of Scott climbing the learning curve, finally.

He's beginning to see the light - that you really cannot just do whatever you want, that a Governor has, relatively, a lot less power than a CEO does in a corporation.

Now if he could only learn what "separation of powers' means...

Time he started listening to those "Tallahassee insiders" whose advice he has ignored thus far in favor of his out-of-state (and completely out-of-touch) advisors.

No, it's his penchant for trying to fix things that AREN'T BROKEN.

His suspension of rulemaking was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen happen in government.

Now, instead of SHRINKING government, he's actually ADDING layers of bureacracy to agency rulemaking!

It's stupid, and not what a real conservative would ever want...

I am all for a better business environment in FL, I am longtime (almost lifetime) Florida boy, but I just don't see how the Gov. proposals get us there. Reducing or eliminating corp. taxes isn't really going to attract many corp relocations as we already have one of the lowest corp tax rates. I know he has proposed deregulation, and I can see how that will help, but again we already have minimal regulations. We are a right to work state so employers have upper hand in employment practices as well as in worker's comp system. Given all this, a very favorable employer friendly environment as it is, I really want to know how he plans on creating more jobs with his current plan??? I have said it time and time again, it's quality of life that keeps the major corps out of Florida. No matter your political beliefs, it's proven that quality of life issues such as cultural offerings, education, leisure and infrastructure lure major companies. As dumb as it may seem, things like performing arts, well performing schools, activities for children and an efficient transit system are just as big of a factor to most fortune 500 companies as taxes are. No one is going to relocate their HQ to a place where people feel they are in a cultural desert. Yeah it may sound uppity but think of who the executives of these major corps are??? They're more concerned about being able to list their name as a board member the local arts board than having to deal with slightly less red tape.

He only changed his position because people brought it to light. First he lied to us about "not being involved in that company" while maintaining a controlling interest!

Then wanted to cut the lifeline from the weakest citizens of FL without even pausing to consider the alternatives.

Now we have a report that his lawyer lied to the FL Supreme Court to infludence the court to allow him to kill the rail project. The lawyer gave the wrong dollar amount, stating that FL had only spent a small fraction of the money allocated by lawmakers last year, when in fact, almost ALL of that money has already been spent. That is a big difference and probably was a major fact as to why the court ruled the way it did.

*See new topic that someone just posted on this issue for the news article link*

When someone lies and tries to do the wrong thing, and then changes his mind, that does not mean he is a good person. That just means he couldn't get away with it!

Easy there folks. I'm not suggesting anything beyond the fact that he appears to be listening and acting on the concerns of people. I still am not a fan and I expect to hear more, shall we say, dissappointing things in the future. I just like to acknowledge good news when it comes and I think it is only fair when we criticize a political figure over something that we give kudos when they listen and act on the public's concerns. That is what they are supposed to do, after all.

Regarding his attorney, it was the attorney's error and it was the attorney who brought the error to the court's attention. It is only speculation to conclude that a different decision might have been rendered but it is hardly accurate to suggest that there was a deliberate lie or that a lie was discovered and revealed to the public.

I don't know what you are talking about and, if you give me an example, I'd be more than happy to apologize for anything I've incorrectly blamed someone for.

Sorry, that was poor wording. What I meant was, you get involved in the political threads and end up upset and jumping on people just exactly like the very people you criticize on the other side.

It came out wrong..... the "blamed" people would have been those in the threads. I know that doesn't make sense. I'll blame lack of coffee.

Let's just hope the judiciary remains independent under the political threats that have been thrown their way lately.
