Been living in Florida for over 6 years. My problem is I am extremely scared, not just disgusted, of almost ALL insects and snakes, but especially palmetto roaches and spiders. It's not getting better. I get a panic attack every time I see a spider/palmetto bug, especially in the house. Pest control will deal with these in the house. Living here, it's inevitable to see them out a lot. Any advice on how to overcome this phobia? I mean, I am really scared of them, can't even relax after finding them, always looking out for them. And Florida bugs are more giant than anywhere else. I killed a lot of them in my old ex-house, but the more I run into these junks, the nastier they seem. Will I ever get over this?

Just one of the downsides of Florida living, lotsa bugs,
Not sure how you could overcome your bugaphobia but i'm sure theres some clinic out there that for the right price will attempt to rid you of your problem with bugs..

Quote:
Insectophobia and Entomophobia are names of phobias relating to the fear of insects.
Arachnophobia is the name of the fear of spiders
Maybe this site will have some use

Thank you for the link. How is that that a grown person is so scared of a (relatively) small roach that is basically harmless and knows it? I guess psychological help is the way to go. I wish I had that much money

YouTube - ‪Big Spider Attacks Daddy‬‏

I would need therapy after an encounter like this.

^^^^^^ It's not the giant spiders that make me not want to go to Australia. It's the venomous kangaroos with their poisonous stinging tentacles!!

Big hairy spider: Try to think of it as a hamster with 8 legs.

Well, as a plumber, I've been in tons of nasty, spider infested crawl spaces in my life. Now, I'm not afraid of spiders, but that doesn't mean I want them crawling on me either......

IMHO, the best strategy is simply to go on the offensive. Kill em' all, let God sort em' out.....

Short term therapy is usually helpful and effective in treating phobias such as yours. Community mental health agencies generally charge according to your ability to pay if your health insurance does not cover short term therapy. Good luck!
