I am an almost 30 year old woman. I have a crazy adventurous side and will be vacationing for a week ALONE and staying on Long Key. What are the must dos and must sees? I love fishing, outdoor stuff, great food, and beaches...and will try darn near anything. This is my yearly "not a rural mom with kids" trip. I will have a rental car for the week and don't mind venturing away from long key

Thanks in advance

Fishing will be the best, especially if you can hook up with a local boating group. If fishing alone i recommend using live shrimp as bait, couple of bucks a dozen.
nice secluded beach to the left of the main highway just before you get on bridge to the next key south.
If memory serves i think they have a marine laboratory on the island, might be interesting if they give tours to the public..
If they do have a restaurant on the key it maybe your only choice.
Do drive to key west (70 miles)and explore some of the other keys along the way,
Marathon may have more to offer shopping and dining just 20 miles toward key west
Also going back toward Miami(40 miles), Key Largo has the John Pennekampf State Park that has diving and site seeing trips out to the coral reefs

John Pennekamp State Park Rocks!!! snorkling right off shore you will see old cannons and cannoballs ships anchor and all sorts of colorful sealife without have to get on a boat! Bahia honda IMHO is the best beach in the keys. Brass monkey Bar in marathon has a really cheap happy hour if you into drinking and sombrero beach is at the end of the road down from the brass monkey (located on the side of Kmart building)and along sombrero beach blvd. is also a nice beach. for great food catch some fish and have one of the local restaurants cook it up for ya!
