Next week I fly out from Indiana to Napples for a job interview. ( health field). All the post I read from locals in Fl. seem to be very negative about anywhere in Florida. I think I am on to your game. You say negative things so us snow birds wont come down there. Is that it?
Im interviewing in Napples,Ft. Myers, and Daytona. One of those hospitals I will choose from and we will move there.

Perhaps before moving 1000 plus miles you might want to learn how to spell the city's name?

If I had to choose from the places you listed, I would take Naples over them all. Can't say the salary will be sufficient for the high cost of living, make sure you do your homework, I would rent and watch the house prices deflate.

Naples is very seasonal, which makes it nice during the Summer. If nightlife and clubbing are your thing then it's the wrong area to move, but the downtown has plenty of nice restaurants and pubs just not the disco balls and foam machines.

Have you spent time in Naples? I'd seriously do that before deciding to move. I lived there 35 years. I was the 5th generation on Marco Island, right off Naples. My family lived there when the Calusa indians did. It was an amazing place back then. It's changed alot. But some people don't like the natural untouched beaches - they like them covered in high-rises. Some people don't like friendly outgoing strangers that talk to them while waiting in grocery store lines - they like to be left alone. Some people don't like slower paces of life - they like the rat race. Some people like quick commutes - some like sitting in traffic forever. I like the way it was. A friend of mine likes the way it is now. She's very into the materialistic things in life. I'm into the simple things.

Seriously, spend some time there before deciding that is your kinda place.

Naples has changed at a lot in our 26 years here. Quadrupling of the population. Those disgusting gated communities everywhere. Shopping strip malls everywhere, etc, etc, etc. Snowbirds clog the streets in the winter ("the season"). We don't even think of going to restaurants then. Have to wait in line even to get into the worst ones in town.
On the other hand, there are numerous beach accesses where you can park a few steps from the beach and at most of these accesses the beaches are relatively uncrowded even during the season. Shopping is great. Many good restaurants to choose from. Life in the summer is a lot more relaxed. Good health care.

Are you interviewing at a hospital? NCH perhaps? Nursing? I only ask because NCH treats their nurses like trash...
