America's Best High Schools - Newsweek (http://www.newsweek.com/content/newsweek/feature/2011/americas-best-high-schools.html - broken link)

Florida has 3 high schools in the top 25, Connecticut has none. Texas, my home state, has 5!

HI, all, any response to the newsweek report? Seems like newsweek should be considered objective when it comes to education.

For all the talk of how awful FL schools are I don't think they came out too bad on this list. Pine View in Osprey, where my oldest just graduated from, is ranked #14. Not too shabby, IMO. I think attending PV gave her an extra edge.

Default Virtual Schools in Florida

Another option for school choice is Virtual School. It is not homeschooling, although the children do the work at home, but they have Fl teachers teaching them. It is definitely something I will consider when my kids are high school age because private school gets so expensive in the high school years.
