Holiday Home Builders... know anything about them?
We fell in love with holiday home buildesr, the morrow bay model. With land it will run about $205,000! We are from Southern California where you cant even get a tiny condo for under $350,000.
I did a search yesterday and found some negative comments about there quaility. Does anyone know anything about them or have had experiences with them? No any other good affordable builders in the Ocala area?
Thanks for any help,
Clarissa

Well, they are another cookie cutter home builder. They too are building in Punta Gorda, North Port and alot of other areas. I haven't heard too much good about them. Just be careful with these home builders. They are cutting corners to make a quick buck.

I agree. I used to sub-contract with them in Naples

That is what I see here. Some people may not want to hear that, but the homes aren't all that..

I have personally visited several models homes from HOLIDAY BUILDERS near the Ocala area, and I can tell you and assure you that they are the best in the business, their homes are absolutely beautiful and sturdy, and the price is right!! I will suggest you to make the move!! Also the area is as good as it gets in Florida!! Best of luck! I hope you will move to Florida!!!

Do more research and try to see the homes for yourself. Then you can make your own decission. Better yet, if you are not sure, don't buy with them!

I've have owned a Holiday for 14 years..... Yes they are good,"But" Buyer be ware. All depends on the crew and the forman...... When building be their at least twice a day and on week ends.Watch how they do things,Plumbing-Electric A/C read and understand what's going on.Ask question from people in the neighbour hood.Go too your lot after a real good rain, look at house in the rain, look where the waters going.Read and Read some more on building FYI books. But " buyer be ware" you get what you pay for and some times less......... have a great day

I read all the way through this thread, mentally composing my response as I went. I got to the end, and Tinman313 had already said exactly what I was going to say.
All homes in Florida have been engineered to be safe, and all are constructed to one of the most restrictive building codes in naiton, and in most communities, they are rigorously inspected by city or county inspectors. From that point of view, it would be hard to buy a "bad" house in Florida, today.
BUT -- do you want the walls to be straight? The drywall joints properly installed? The woodwork finished with tight joints? The floor to be properly level under the carpet? Then, you had better choose a custom builder who will let you be on site every day, or you better hope you get really lucky with the assignment of foreman on your job. Realize that even if they discover minor problems, it's not cost effective for them to go back and correct them. Instead, they hope you won't notice. It's cheaper for them to add the problems that are discovered to the "punch" list for correction by the warranty crew. If you miss it, it won't get fixed.

My opinion: they are one of the worst quality builder in all of south florida along with maronda. if it is a lot cheaper than the other ones, it's too good to be true. compare the standard features with many other builders before buying.

Even beware of the custom builders
We have friends who had a home built by Ferro Homes. Our friends were at the building site everyday. Even being there each day, the builder ended up putting the electrical lines on the opposite side of the room. Our friend caught this and told the builder to correct it. He had such a hard time with this so called custom builder. It was finally corrected.
