I have lived in a number of different places Buffalo NY, NYC, Ct, Northern Va, Catskills NY...and although each of these areas are so different I always learned to love something about all but one of these areas.

Buffalo yes I loved living there,,,very cold, very snowy yet some of the niceset people I have ever met..

NYC my hometown so I will always love it

Ct lived there for less than a year, this is the only place I really did not like

Catskills New York...again loved the people, loved the quite and being away from the traffic.

Northern Va...have lived here for the last 15 years, raised my family here, hate the traffic,

so when we move to Florida I will love that as well..

Speaking of personal attacks, those who have been following the murder trial are watching people in Orlando fist fighting to get into the courthouse. I was watching the news tonight and yelling at the TV (yes, I do that) "get a life, you idiots!" There were women with small babies camping out overnight just to get a seat. I don't get it. Anyway, this doesn't paint a very positive picture of Florida residents.
It is in every state. Walmart workers getting trampled on Long Island after people camp out to get black Friday deals. Los Angeles baseball fans nearly beating a Giants fan to death. I am sure if I checked I could find a story in every state about a big trial that drew big crowds and someone got in a fight.
There are idiots everywhere.

Yeah, I really miss those taxes on everything, bitter cold winters barracaded in my home due to the ice and snow, socialist politics, and rude ma$$holes cutting me off right and left on the highways. Yep, those were the days... NOT!

I'll cut and paste it below in green.

What does Florida lack that makes everyone want to go "home"?

Isn't this asking people to list the things they or others they know don't like about Florida? It's almost as if people who are answering honestly have been set up for an argument.
The question is faulty from the outset -- who says "everyone" wants to go home?

Well, I'm not a "full back", I'm a native Floridian who left and I didn't and don't loathe Florida, but neither do I miss it. The state I remember growing up is long since gone... And the reason I come back to the forum is because the people and conversations here are interesting, lively, sometimes obnoxious, but almost always entertaining

And, in case anyone took that the wrong way, that was a compliment

Maybe. If they aren't and drove/flew to Orlando with their families to camp outside of a courthouse to get a glimpse of the infamous Casey Anthony, that tells you the direction in which our nation is going! One woman was feeding an infant with a bottle. It's one big reality show. Maybe these are tourists who can't afford the admission to the theme parks in Orlando.

"Mommy, I want to go to the Haunted Mansion!"

"But this will be so much more fun! We can watch boring lawyers ask boring witnesses questions about a poor little girl's decomposed body."

True, Mike. I've said that in many of my posts. It seems to be more common in Florida, however, but I've also said Florida is the 4th most populous state.

Yes, TN, I agree with you. It is always entertaining. You are not one of the complainers though. I think people who move away from a home state should be content with the change while those who relocate should be content with the change otherwise, they should change it back.

Not only is FL not the state you remember, the world has changed along the way also. NYC is not the NYC I remember in the 1960's and early 70's either. For that matter this is not the U.S.A. I was brought up in. Not much stays the same. Ya know, progress and all that jazz.

Well, I mostly agree with you, but I'm guessing you haven't spent much time in some of the small, rural towns/areas of E TN. A few of them haven't changed much in the last...oh, say, 100 +/- years or so

It would be fantastic if ALL of those that come down here to ruin our beautiful state with their attitudes and negativity would go back home...I really wish theyd figure out Florida is not for them before they even come down here to begin with.... too bad theres not a screening at the state line that would prevent them from getting in.
