I think you can exclude the BBC from all the tabloid-press issues with the "British Press" currently getting so much airtime. I certainly hope so--I like the BBC news very much, even the American version they put out now.

Yes, Geddy Lee is Canadian. I think the point was that the other guy somebody mentioned *isn't*. This came up in the context of Canadian musicians, a sub-thread that I probably helped to start.

What does all of this have to do with the original topic?

Because I asked the question whether these anti-Yankee sentiments extended to Canadians. That led to a favourable mention of some Canadian artists.

No thanks, I'll take Fox any day of the week.
You do understand that the News of the World, the tabloid accused of the phone hacking is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who also owns Fox News, right?

Yankees somehow tied in with Canadians, Brits, 'socialists', ect in the age of FOX and the title of this thread. Works the other way too.. One big reason Florida will come back is it is the major swing state where rigid ideology won't rule and those 'socialists' with wealth feel more comfortable here than many other warm weather escapes along the very long southern and gulf coasts..

I would rather have Florida like it was in the '70s than like it is now. Yeah, I'd love for all the Yankees and their stupid fall festivals, "state clubs," state flags on the mailbox, covert racism, contempt for all things Southern and all natives of Florida, to just head north on I-95 and I-75. Hate Florida? I'll help you pack! I'm sure not going anywhere!

perhaps people in the panhandle / lower Alabama / the Redneck Riviera should secede and join Alabama already! Yankees have been in Florida for well over a century now and many northerners & mid westerners developed Florida. One has to remember history that over a century ago the most popualted areas of Florida was in the Panhandle/ northern Florida area.
It was Henry Flagler (a Yankee) who developed the Florida East Coast railroad & left his mark on St. Augustine and developed cities up & down the east coast such as Palm Beach & Miami when there were more Indians inhabiting those areas than southerners.
Florida has always had a Yankee streak because they have been part of our history.

I can remember in the 80's a very popular bumper sticker in Florida.... "Welcome to Florida!! Now go HOME!"
