After many of us calling (repeatedly) to complain, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has resurrected the old ShopAndCompareRates website. It's now called Choices.

The website is designed to help consumers compare homeowners’ insurance rates among the companies writing policies in Florida. I think it's also good for transparency and accountability purposes, too.

The cheapest premium I found was $452 in Nassau County and the most expensive was $9873 in Miami Dade County.

Many other factors will apply, but this helps IMO. Below is a link to the new site:

Thanks TK. I agree getting good info is just not easy. Still could be far from accurate, but good to have.

$13,406 in Monroe County

If you look at the new construction rates on there it switched up a bit and Hernando and Pasco County have some high rates but that is mostly on State Farm which really throws everything up since their rates are so high in this area.
