Info on Titusville-Mims please
I have been a member for a bit and haven't been on in awhile.
I had made a thread about info in Mims but didn't get any response.
My husband might be relocating his job which will be in Orlando and I wanted to know any info about Mims.
I have been looking on the internet for houses and so far the ones I like that have room in the backyard has been in Mims. We have 2 kids under 8 and schools a very important. On this City site there has been so many negatives about schooling in Fl that i would hate to make a big mistake for my children.
We are interested in knowing if Mims is like a country area of Fl. Anything else I should look into like Mims? What is there to do for the kids? Highway conditions towards rush hr to Orlando area. Are there any tolls from mims to orlando? Area crime? We have friends in PSL but they are futher down and don't have any children to know about school system in Mims.
Any info for a newbie moving to Fl would be helpful.
Thank you so much

Angie, there's not much to tell about Mims, it's a small country town with nothing there. It's what most call a run down dumpy little town, it has no grocery stores, no shopping, no anything really.
Everyone does their shopping in Titusville (10 miles south) or Merritt Island(30 miles south) I lived in Titusville several years and I think it's a decent town to live in. Like every other town it does have its bad areas, but over all it's not a bad town. Has some good schools and lots of grocery shopping but not much for Malls, the nicer Malls are in Merritt Island. Hwy 50 runs directly into Orlando from Titusville. (35 miles). Anything else you would like to know I'll be glad to tell you all I know about the area.

mims is a very unattractive area. Titusville on the other hand is very very nice. There is a neighborhood off on 95 on windover way, its very long and private road that has very nice size yards and very good houses. Its a beautiful location and i know in the heat of the market a good sized house was only going for mid 3's...i cant imagine how low they have dropped now, but i would look there. Also it gives you the option of going out to the main road and taking 50 all the way into orlando, or going south just one exit and taking 528 all the way into orlando. Either way i believe that is your best bet. Titusville is beautiful and a nice area. I have been there numerous times to visit family and Mims was something you drive through and thought...where was it? hope this helps

Mims a four corner whistle stop on the North side of Titusville just south of Scottsmoor another 2 corner whistle stop. Ye Hah a good ole boys town, with bigum 4X4 and your ATVs and lots of fish and huntin....... Titusville on the other hand is the gate way too the Kennedy Space Center and just east of Christmas Florida on Highway 50 which is Colonial Drive in Orlando 45 mins away too the east side of Orlando, University of Centeral FL and Alafaya and another 30 min into downtown depending time of day....

We do have ONE grocery store in Mims--a Winn Dixie. I've lived in Mims for 15 years. I love it because I can hop on I-95 and be in Daytona in 35 min., or I can go to Titusville for shopping (which doesn't have alot), or drive 30 min. and be in Merritt Island or add another 20 to that and be in Viera at the the new mall. Only 1 hr. from shopping in Orlando.
