Just some random observations from my 7 years in northwest and northeast Florida:

Crowdedness was why we left Denver; Colorado has become *very* trendy (plenty of Floridians going there) and it was beginning to feel very congested. Traffic became terrible. We visited in July and it is even worse now.

There is still plenty of room in northwest and northeast Florida, and a real spring and fall.

I agree that there has been a problem with overbuilding in north Florida, but the housing market bubble popping in 2006 shook a lot of that out.

I've noticed that some of the newbies here have migrated from south Florida. As a preschool teacher I can say that there are still nice places to raise children in this region.

I was thinking Tampa Bay and Orlando areas when referring to crowded as that where the friends and family live.

I'm thinking of leaving leaving Florida to move to northern GA or southern TN, to live up in the mountains. The only thing that's holding me back are my family and friends, especially since I wouldn't know anyone up there.

I was born and raised here in Florida and love this state but the only thing I hate about Florida is the consistent humid weather as well as the lack of the four seasons. My fiancee may want to leave the state too but is a bit hesitant for the same reasons as mine.

Most Floridians who move, move to some other home in Florida. They may be up-sizing, or down-sizing. But they're not moving out of Florida. The population of Florida has been increasing for years. It hasn't stopped increasing yet.

In fact, it wasn't that long ago that we were seeing numerous articles about the northerners in high tax states like New York who are fleeing southward to Florida.

No...there's plenty of room for you there where you are...wherever that is.

Actually a good number of Floridians wind up elsewhere in states like NC, SC, TN and GA as do many transplants from the north who don't ever connect with life here or find it's not economically viable for them in terms of job availability and salaries versus the cost of living here.

We have lived in both Charlotte NC and Boca Raton South Florida and I can tell you there are a lot of Northerners in both places...Kyle is correct with his statement when we lived in NC I cant tell you how many people from Florida where there I would lose count, In South Florida we knew people that were moving to NC for whatever reason....NC has a ton of Northerners as well...I do see quite a bit of relocation to south florida in general but unfortunately the economy still has something to be desired and that goes for most states in the country...it depends what people want out of life or where their or their spouses career takes them...Florida as far as jobs is alot more limiting and the pay isn't great either than opposed to NC even though there unemployment is very high as well it will bounce back alot quicker than FL will!! Let me also add the cost of living between NC and FL is huge in my opinion but I do live in South Florida which is more expensive than some other parts of Florida in general so this would be why people would move....

I grew up in Wildwood Florida and spent most weekends at our cabin on the Weeki Wachee River. The spring-fed river was/is crystal clear and 72 degrees year round. It was such a peaceful place and I could throw my jon boat in the water and be zipping around the gulf of mexico within a matter of minutes. When I returned (to Ocala) in 1996 from the Navy, I almost cried at how Florida had changed. It was soo crowded and developed. Still, my wife and I enjoyed our 7 years in Ocala. We have lived in Athens GA now for 10 years and it is a great place with a lot of activities. Still, there is a desire to go home. Maybe its alzheimers since I know home doesn't exist any more. We celebrated many wonderful Thanksgivings on the Peace River when my grandparents lived in Arcadia. When I was 8 years old, my grandmother introduced me to gardening and as I've grown older, those memories have grown more precious. I think they left an imprint which cannot be erased. We all want to ge home.

Aw man...I was born and raised in NE Florida. This thread is making me homesick...even more than I already was!

I moved out to Western Washington/Puget Sound area back in 2011 after divorce. It's okay. The people are very friendly and helpful here (reminds me of how Florida used to be when I was younger...am 43 now). The weather is awful. I am so cold! And I just miss my home. I'm in school right now for health information management but I've been thinking about moving back to the SE when I'm done. I'd like to come back to Florida but I don't know. I thought about the coastal regions of SC, NC, and VA but I'm having trouble deciding.
