I'm from New York and would like to get a Sunshine Pass so when we vacation in Florida. How much money would it be for out of state residents? And do I have to register my licensee plate even if its a NY plate? Thank You!

No one cares about your state of residence when you buy a Sunpass. If anything they're glad you when out of state folks do because the toll authorities would love to be able to get rid of the toll booths altogether. (all electronic save money and lets average traffic speeds remain higher on the road)

1) Your account is linked to a specific license plate or plates. You enter it when you set up your Sunpass account online.

2) You've got two different options- the sticker, which is only $5 but you have to attach it to a specific vehicle, and the cigarette pack-sized transponder which is $25, but you can move it from vehicle to vehicle if need be. (and which you can just stash in your sock drawer back home when you're not driving in Florida)

You can buy either type at Publix, CVS, or AAA South outposts throughout Florida, or even purchase online if you want to set everything up before your trip.

Lots of info here:

You can use your SunPass with multiple vehicles with the same number of axles. You just have to make sure the other vehicles' license plates are registered to your account.

I looked at the sunpass site before asking. Can you have two sunpass mini's take from the same account? If so, not sure why I would pay $25 per transponder and have to move it around from vehicle to vehicle when I could pay $5 for each mini pass.
