Default BBQ Grills and condos?

We are considering purchasing a condo for either part year or full year residence. As we would want 'some' outdoor space and a view, I'm fairly sure this would include a balcony.

We like to cook, often using our BBQ grill. Is this something that we would have to give up for most condos?

I think that high rise buildings usually do not permit grilling on balconies as it is a safety issue. However, complexes that are set up as townhomes with ground floor patios usually do permit grilling on the patio.

These rules are NOT set in stone as I am sure that you will find exceptions.

I have a two story condo with a lanai. I am not allowed to keep my grill on the lanai, much less use it there. I have to cook in my drive space. I understand the no cooking on the lanai part is a county fire regulation, and the condo rule about not keeping the grill there is just a way to try to enforce the fire regulation.
I don't know this as fact but I can envision a situation where a unit occupant could damage the building with a fire and the association's insurance might refuse to cover the cost since there was a fire law violation involved.

This probably is a +1 for the 'buy a single family home' column.

We aren't allowed to on my property, but it depends on the town/city/county code.
