Not all people from the north are alike. Not even close, when we owned a condo in Myrtle Beach the most rude, forceful, arrogant, nasty people I ever had to deal with were ALL from NY and NJ. They did everything to tell me how to run my condo and told me when they were coming and going.
People from the midwest like Ohio, Indiana, Ky, Iowa, Illinois etc were my dream renters, never causing me a problem at all.
When I stay in resorts I have always found the same people from those two states the ones with the "attitude" that I could not deal with.
To make sure I dont step on the good people from those states, not everyone is like that, so please do not clump people from the north all together.
Most people from the midwest are very good people who you only wish were your neighbors.
What are we suppose to do with the Marlins in Ohio?

Unfortunately, many (not all, I know of some great yankees who are great people), but many do not respect the southern way and have re-created the same hell-holes that they tried to escape from in the first place. The old Florida, the Florida that we love is gone forever........
And yes, I still display my confederate flag as does my black neighbor down the street.

Like us northerners have something to do with you not skipping rocks and shooting birds? Please... maybe you just grew up? maybe that's the reason.
I went to school in Cortland, NY (upstate). It was a small city. You talk about how you used to wave at passerbys and such; what, does this not go on anywhere else besides the south? In Cortland, it was rude of you not to wave, smile, and say hi to someone you were passing on the street.
Have you ever visited NYC? I hear countless people (esp from the south) talk about how generous NYers are; saying they expected us to be rude, but were actually the nicest people they had come across in most places they'd visit. I see random NYers all over the city going out of their way and asking tourists if they need directions.
Uh huh, generosity is only in the south...
I'm not slamming the south, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that a lot of this stuff goes on everywhere else.

Floridabound09: I want you to know that I don't think all mid-westerners are rude. I've since met lots of nice ones! I think that southwest Florida just attracts the rude ones!
