Moving to Pensacola
Hi everyone! I am new to the forum, so I will introduce myself. I am a 23 year old newly Registered Nurse living in Murfreesboro, TN. I inherited my father's home in Pensacola and am moving there on September 5th. My boyfriend of 9 years is coming along.
I am interested in the employment opportunities and pay for myself and my boyfriend, he does Heating and Air (has for about 5 years now and currently has his own crew). Anyone work in these fields? Is it pretty easy to find these types of jobs in the area?
Also, I am looking for gym or athletic club to join. Any recommendations? We will be around Hwy 29 close to the Wal-Mart.
I'd love to hear from any locals that can give me some advice on what to expect, places to see (or avoid). I've been there quite a few times, but mainly done the typical touristy stuff. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

These guys seem to be constantly growing (HVAC): Air Design Systems - Heating, Ventalation and Air Conditioning
A friend of mine used to be the comptroller there, but he passed away due to illness. Young family too. Life goes on. Good company if he loved it. They are a regional, serving Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Georgia.
As for yourself, TON's of opportunities. Just google Baptist Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, or West Florida Regional Hospital. PLENTY of well paying oppty's for you!
Keep 'em cool. Keep 'em healthy. There you go!
Welcome to Pensacola!

Thanks so much for the info. I checked out the website and you can actually apply online, we haven't found any other heating and air companies that do this.

LOL! Well, my friend was relatively young, had a young family, and had been w. the company for a number of years. Paid well enough to afford the nice home, kids, toys, etc. I think it's a "safe bet" type company, because they had alot of opportunities for the younger workers to excel, due to their expertise and geographic coverage of the southeast region. Should be fun!

You are a nurse, husband works in HVAC?
You will have much easier a time finding work than most of the people who try to move here.
Also, as a nurse, you may qualify for special home loans, etc. Check out http://www.floridahousing.org (part of the State of Florida government).
There are various programs being run right now (like CWHIP) to help nurses, firefighters, police, EMS, teachers, and other "essential personnel" buy homes in Florida. Under the HAP program, for example, you can get a $15,000 or $25,000 second mortgage for 0% interest and no payments as long as you remain qualiifed and don't sell the house.
No I'm not kidding.

I am actually a fitness consultant in the area, and I would be more than happy to have you try our facility out to see if you like it. The location is great for you. The gym is brand new (Omni) and it is located on the corner of Fairfield Dr. and Davis Hwy. about 10 minutes from you. If you would like further information, or just would like to try out the gym to see what you think let me know.. My name is Linda Hernandez and I will be happy to help you. Thanks.

Thanks Linda! I'm moving Wednesday actually. I'd love to come check out the gym. Probably in a couple weeks, after we get settled in. I am glad you responded to my post and I look forward to speaking with you!

We haven't found jobs yet. We have been saving for a while in preparation, so we plan on taking a few weeks off after we get there. I am not too worried because nurses are in demand nearly everywhere. My boyfriend thinks he'll be okay finding work in heating and air but, if not, may look into other options. Thanks for asking! And thanks for the links.
