...ok mac! Thanks for the warning.
Bet ya where ur moving will have it's own set of probs.
We are in Lutz! ....less crime, good schools, less population, and a lighter style of life. WE LOVE IT!
NOW, I will say I avoid (miami, lantana, ft lat, etc) as much as possible.
vafury! ...I sat there trying to figure out the name for a while.

Thats funny how everybody has their own perspective. Lutz air quality is even worse then miami and the crime is almost as bad.

Maybe not quite as many problems as you may think. Have to do your research

In other words, Florida is almost designed for the low life. Notice how many people on the run seem to be found in Florida when they are caught. These people are by no means Florida haters, quite the opposite, they love it here. I would be careful what you wish for. Most of the people you refer to who are leaving are not really Florida haters, they are realists looking for a better life.

When I moved to south Florida, I was warned about South Florida as the scam capital of the world (I think this title should give to some city in China now). Everything I do now I always get three quotes and each with three references. I tend to take the lowest price with good responses from references. I usually don't go back to ask them bid on each other again. If I don't do this due to deadline or friends referral, we always end in a bad position. It is my experience here. But at least people showed up to bid on the project. My friend in PA told me once that no one showed up to bid on his project in winter. Just be careful..

Well, come to Ohio...
Nice gray skies for 9 months, your car won't start, your electric is off more then on during the winter from ice storms, shovel snow for months and freeze your butt off for 10 months. Oh forgot, not many jobs here, unless you can wait tables at Dennys....compared to Florida where I can find work real easy, already been offered and turn down great paying jobs and be warm year around without a problem at all.
We got Lake Erie, even the fish cannot swim in it.

I mentioned in another post how I found it easy to make money in Florida. That is one of the reasons. I have a friend who is a roofer and getting an appointment with him is like trying to see a doctor. He is in so much demand because he "Actually" does good honest work. When I was in the lawn service business I had to turn down lots of clients who wanted us to do their yards usually because of logistics, we wanted to work mostly in one area and not be running all over the place. But when you are good and honest and do what you say you will do, you stand out and "Will" be busy. Most lawn service guys you are lucky if they show up.
Almost any trade down here if you do good honest work you will be as busy as you want to be. My car mechanic lost his building in hurricane Wilma. I am not kidding, there was a panic in our area wanting to know what he was going to do. "An honest mechanic", people depend on him, the thought to have to go searching for a new mechanic was scary.

Again, I 100% agree with this. I have found that ANYONE, in almost any trade or profession, will have as much work as they want down here if they are known to be honest, reliable and do good work. The good ones get recommended, and personal recommendations by word-of-mouth is the best advertising. I know I ALWAYS ask for recommendations from my friends and acquaintances about who to hire for certain jobs, and then I am forever loyal to the tradesmen who are good.

macguy, i have heard of some parts of northern fla referred to as "floribama" because some of the cities/towns are more like georgia or alabama, than "typical" florida.

"Find work really easy"...THAT is funny.
Incredibly overdramatic assessment. I would like to see a statistic on tempatures below 32 for 10 months. I am beginning to wonder if you even live there.
But, as you wonder about those who don't care for FL, why can't you handle Ohio? Lots are asking you that question yet you don't seem to answer it. Makes a person wonder.....
