I have been here for 12 years and thankfully I will be out of here in 3 days. I loved Florida when I first came, but it went steadily downhill from there. I first lived in Orlando in 1995, it was great...for a couple years. Then I steadily got more and more less fond of Florida. Too hot, unless you lived on the equator it's too humid and the air is just NASTY. I tried Melbourne, not bad there. Vero Beach is nice. I'll tell you what... Naples is the crappiest city here, they act like it is the best place on earth... YA IF YOU ARE A MILLIONARE!!!! Otherwise it sucks. Fort Myers is surely becoming a miami(crime). I'm just glad to go. I'm sure I will get responses from people saying "one less person" or "good, go" I don't care, you can have this crap hole state...

Before coming to Florida, I lived where it snowed most days, althought it did not always accumulate. Sunny days were rare, expecially in the winter. Single digit or sub zero temps were normal in the winter. I'll take our weather over that any day of the week! Couple that with the beach and I'm a happy camper! I never regretted the move here over twenty years ago.

:
Well, first of all it is not 90 degrees six months of the year, cost of living is reasonable in many places, pay is lower than some states, but that isn't a universal truth either. Overcrowded everywhere...EVERYWHERE? LOL A total lack of culture.... well, it's no Boston or NYC, but in the last year I've been to the symphony, ballet, art galleries, art shows, open air concerts, a book fair with nationally recognized authors, a distinguished lecture series...

If Florida isn't for you, if you don't like humidity, if you can't find a good job, those are your experiences and opinions, but the examples that you have used tend to render your post as bogus.

I wish you good luck in finding your nirvana. With your attitude, I'm sure you will go far.

I miss the change of seasons, I miss a cold Christmas. Not going out in shorts on Christmas and Thanksgiving like here. It will take getting used to, but I will get used to cold again.

I have no love for Florida anymore...
No offense, but western Mass.? I am from upstate NY originally and had relatives in western Mass. at one time. In my opinion, you are not moving up that much. That area is awful! I do agree Florida has its problems, but western Mass. would not be a place I would want to live.
