Touche Chris.

I think this thread as gone from from the "heat" theme to many other subjects. Heat's almost over for this year, the paradise season is coming up.
October-May.

Because of Florida. Some love it, some hate it and some are in between.

All things considered (money, endless summer, stupid beaches, 1,000 miles from my kids), I would rather be in Pittsburgh (even as a NYC native) than Naples, Florida.

What a beautiful sight. I love the fall colors and the mountains...something that I don't get to see in FL. Thank you for sharing.

Yeah, I miss MOUTAINS, even though I am from NYC/LI. I went to the Catskills, Adirondacks, Poconos, Green Mountains many times. Nothing like the mountains in Fall Foliage, or covered in SNOW. You can't get any of that in Florida. I miss that SO MUCH. Sorry, for ME, beaches mean nothing in comparison. Four years in Florida and I have only been to a beach maybe 4 times. Hate beaches. Hot, sweaty, sandy, bla, bla, bla.

I have been to Florida hundreds of times (including about three weeks this year), primarily staying on both the eastern coast and center state. I have family that lives in both areas (senior citizens) that have been Florida residents for 30 years, or more. The best man in my wedding lives outside of Orlando.... he's 57, about to be furloughed, no health benefits, and his retirement savings is all tied to Florida real estate (his continually devalued home that he cannot sell)

I initially started posting on the Florida forum in 2006, asking questions, exchanging ideas/ observations, and learning. My hope was to purchase my eventual retirement home that year, or soon thereafter. Because of many knowledgeable posters on this board, I learned a ton, and this probably saved me from what could have been one of worst financial nightmares of my life.... buying a Florida home at 2006 prices. I still hope to eventually be more vested in Florida sometime in the future (because the state is especially beautiful near the beaches), but beaches and a no-snow winter are not enough to override the state's current abysmal economy geared to the benefit of the wealthy retired and the state's ignorance of the value of the education/training of its youth.

You personally may not always like what I might have to say, but I am going to continue to post the truth about my personal experiences and knowledge of Florida. I will not pretend that pictures of tourists at a Florida beach (if not tourists as you claim, then the most "untanned" natives ) are reality.
I'm really intrigued by your effort to continually bash things here, so I looked at your old posts and as I suspected my assumptions of why you have such a desire to waste your time on here bashing Florida and making comments is because you once had a dream to move to WPB and retire here and that did not happen. I like how you fail to mention your so called relatives live in my area, is that a secret? You know how nice it is here, you just don't want to admit it because you don't want to lose face over it. You seemingly bring up the economy here and home prices, do you think the entire US of A is out of the woods yet?

I won't argue with you that you made a wise choice not moving when you wanted to, you should have planned it a few years earlier like 2000 or 2002 the latest, now though prices are back down to earth somewhat and it's a buyers market, I would not suggest you ever move here it's really bad, really really bad, such a bad place to live (sarcasm), Palm Beach is a Ghetto and the state has no chance, it's just too hot here too, way too humid sweaty and sandy!

Okay if you feel in your opinion (which means nothing to me BTW) that I know nothing about Pittsburgh and PA, then it's fair to say that you know absolutely nothing about Florida regardless of your relatives and other friends and your little trips as a tourist here.

You really have no validity like many others on here who must be really bored, miserable people, who have plenty of time to waste posting countless "Florida Sucks" posts. What you and your friends say is only a tiny, grain of sand % of what the majority feels.

Again tourists, we welcome them here and don't discriminate, whether or not you see someone's tan level as a gauge to what they are is totally incorrect. Do you even go to the beach yourself? Are you one of those tourists that wears a t-shirt over their swimsuit when they go in the water? If so that's okay, your $ is still welcome.

So what did you do today in beautiful Pittsburgh? I was at the beach all afternoon and had a blast, the sandpipers, pelicans and water was a true slice of paradise. Please don't get jealous, I know I'm being facetious here but I love it here and there is nothing you and your City Data friends can do or say about it.

I have seen enough fall foliage to last a lifetime, thank you very much. You really should research where you grab photos from. That's Delaware Water Gap, which is in Eastern PA not even close to Pittsburgh.

And yes I can do better, but at this point it's not worth my time, I have better things to do. Happy Labor Day!

If you do not like or never did like Florida why did you move here?
