According to the latest consumer confidence poll and this article we may be but not know for sure until the data comes out in a few months. Florida started tanking before the rest of the country with the last one too.

There is no recession and has not been any recession since 2007. Credit has been removed from the market, individuals and businesses alike were spending credit not income, with that available credit removed this is he result..learn to live with it still opportunity.

In a state that has been completely controlled by the Republicans for what seems like forever, I'd like to see some accountability on their part. Of course, there won't be any...they'll blame the Democrats.

No it is a full on depression.

The only difference between the Great Depression and this one is food stamps, UE benefits, and other services that were not available in the 1930s.

And another round of foreclosures is coming.

This is nothing like the Great Depression. I took a class on the period from 1914-1945 in college...the Great Depression was much worse than this.

The broadest measure of unemployment we have now, the U-6 (which measures all people who unemployed and underemployed), peaked at around 17% in this recession. During the depths of the Great Depression, it is estimated that this measure, which did not exist at the time, was 45%.

This is a bad time in our economic history, but there have been worse recessions than this one.

Florida lost a lot of jobs in July. (including in the leisure/hospitality segment) When we start losing even the low paid jobs, things are looking bleak.

I know 2 people who lost good paying jobs this month ($70k+).

This is a swing state. There is no need for political hostility in Florida. We all have our political beliefs and just stick to what you think is right. We could blame democrats for why we got into this recession in the first place. Seeing as how it was the president's wise democratic ways that destroyed the economy...But I won't.

It is not as visible due to all the services that are now in place. There are more people receiving food stamps now than ever before.

We never had 99 weeks of UE benefits before.

If these services were cut things would look a lot different.

This recession/ depression is much worse as many of the jobs lost aren't coming back like they did in past economic downturns.

Unemployment is much higher than what is being reported.
