Adams Homes
Hello
My wife and I are currently living in Charlotte, NC, and are thinking of buying an adams home. I tried posting on the Charlotte board but nobody seemed to have any information about them. I know adams did alot of building in fla, so I was wondering if peope had any information/opinions of them both good and bad. Thanks

A lot also depends on the building requirements for NC, they may be quite different than Florida's. Have you tried the BBB to see if there are any complaints for them in NC? You may want to get references, any reputable builder would have them to show you and should give you numbers to contact the homeowner.

Adam's Homes is a low to midrange price range builder.
Not too many options but that is to keep prices down.
You will see positive and negative posts in regards to them but what it really comes down to is keeping on top of everything when the home is being built.
One thing I have suggested to some of my clients in the past is to hire your own independent inspector for during the building process. They will be looking out for your own best interests and this give you the ability to adress problems as they arise not 6 months after you are in the home and become aware of the problem.

I live in Port St. Lucie, Florida and own an Adams Home for 2 years now.
We purchased new and therefore received a 1year warranty. They have definately stood behind their home. I have absolutely no complaints as far as the effiency and speed which they handled any problems, which were few.
My only complaint is their appliances. I wanted to upgrade when I purchased and they wouldn't allow, which I thought was strange, I also asked for a appliance rebate so I could purchase my own and this was not allowed. Although this is a big deal to me because I am a person who loves to cook, it might not bother someone else, and as I said this is really the only complaint I have with Adams.
Good Luck to you no matter what your decision

I don't understand. After looking at 9 builders in the Tampa area we signed a sales contract for our Adams home and what was standard there was an upgrade most other place in the same price range. Even small things like lever door handles and KNOBS on the kitchen cabinets (which have free crown molding). All fixtures brushed nickel so it all matches. Someone mentioned delta but we have moen faucets. Double sinks in master were free and ceiling fans, 5 cable and elec outlets. We had 5 carpet choices, 30 countertops and 15 floor choices as STANDARD. Dual pane windows and blown insulation. We even had a choice of white, black, and stainless steel appliances for no extra. We got black because stainless is so fingerprinty. We COULD have paid for granite, hardwood etc but in a 2000 square foot house for 148,900 why? I say enjoy the free stuff included for a few years and upgrade as needed if you want and your market will support it. We even got the covered lanai which was a 6000 dollar upgrade at another builder across from Adams in the same development. We even had 10 paint/shingle/trim packages to choose from and a gorgeous door with the side windows and coach lights on the front of the house. Full landscaping with trees, shrubs, sod, and sprinkler system on front, back, and sides with a timer. Oh in fairness we did pay 1500 to have a sep garden tub and walkin shower in the master bath and 1000 for 2 inch blinds with crown molding type valances throughout the house. Worth it to us. We opted to get an inspector for different stages of construction because its extra insurance. Maybe some things have changed. But in our price range they were the best choice for us. We also got a C elevation for no extra. It was 5600 at the other builder.
