Ok thought I would ask some of you who have lived here for a long time. WHere are the sea gulls? We have been down here for about a month and a half now and every time we go to the beach there are no sea gulls? Daytona used to always have them? What has happened? Sorry if this is a dumb question!

I don't know where they are. I try to avoid them when I do notice them.

I don't know exactly what part of Florida you are in but on the panhandle we have a surplus of the flying rats. In fact, one park in Destin has become so infested with them that it has become somewhat dangerous for people to take their children there. Feel free to come over, bring a big net, and start a relocation program.

They're scary looking too. I think you'll see more of them during the "season", every living thing is hiding right now from the heat. I remember pelicans being everywhere, i don't see those guys as often anymore.

In our area of the gulf, Gulls and Shore Birds of all types showed substantial decreases in our most recent Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count.

What is exactly triggering their numbers to drop here? I'm not sure.
I wouldn't call it a good sign...thats for sure.

Seagulls are actually protected migratory water fowl. We used to have hundreds over our beach and we were just there the other night looking for manatee and dolphins, we saw 1 seagull. Not sure where they went or what happened to them.

We have seagulls but I don't see any fireflys anymore. We use to have tons of them but the last 10 years I don't see them. Anyone else notice this?
