my brother told me yesterday about how he looks forward to early retirement, yea, he's only 47, and he asked me where i think he should relocate within Florida. he is creative, likes to paint, walk, beach, bike, workout, travel, etc. so i * searched * the archives and nothing came up. i hope my big brother reads this. well the million dollar question if you retired early inyour late 40s, where would you hang your hat. someplace within reason near a decent airport.

I was going to say one of The Keys, but define "near a decent airport".

Ponce Inlet is where I have always said I would move to if I hit the jackpot. Maybe I like that "leave me alone and get off my beach" attitude LOL

Sanibel/Captiva Island, South Beach, Merritt Island, the Keys, Aventura, Siesta Key, Boca Grande...those would top my list.

Water sucks in New Smyrna/Ponce Inlet, it is brown and the place is too touristy. Clear blue water is ideal if you are a beach goer, cuts down on the accidental shark bites the other two places are known for!

If you have unlimited resources, anywhere around Marathon in the keys would be fine because you could get in/out via private jet/helicopter via Marathon. Wouldn't want to drive to Miami to catch a plane on a holiday weekend that is for sure! Marathon has Duck Key, Key Colony beach etc so you can buy a nice place on the water. The Keys are touristy too though.

With MegaMillions at 476MM for Friday there are plenty of people posing this same dream right now! 476 pays about 210 in cash after taxes so that is private jet, private island kind of money......

2 weeks of South Beach/Aventura you would want to jump off the balcony of your penthouse! Too much wannabe eurotrash. Every woman wants to be a model despite the reality they will end up as a stripper/escort to keep their ultra cool lifestyle going! The guys are losers from somewhere else that are trying to reinvent themselves in FLARIDUH as a nightclub promoter, invester, etc.

Orlando has a great airport, and less than an hour to cocoa beach, and an hour to daytona beach. Lots of really nice areas to live there too.
