Question Century, FL

We are considering purchasing property in Century, FL. Does anyone know about this area? I would like to know the good and bad of it. I'm afraid of being stuck in a town with little to do and having to drive 45 min. to Pensacola to do anything. Are the schools good? Any activities for kids? Any info would be great. Do storms hit hard through here at all?

Thanks.

Century is in a rural, pine-forested area of the state, and yes, the only larger busineses are in Pensacola. I believe that they do have a Pizza Hut there. You can count on an 1.25 hour drive to Pensacola Beach. This is a very poor area of Florida, and the schools reflect this. Most of the homes are smaller, and there is a high percentage of mobile homes in the area.

This is a hard one to call, I have been in Century for almost 3 years now. Relocated from San Diego, CA it was a big culture shock to say the least. If you're moving here locally I don't think you'll see much of a difference. Its a quiet life. My daughter went to Byrneville Elementary which is an "A" charter school it was very good. Now, shes going to Ernest Ward middle which is another "A" school. As far as activities, not so much. There is local little league, softball, girl scouts, a dance studio. I'm not up on all the happenings but, I like where I'm at. I don't understand people wanting to live closer to the coast with the storms that have come thru, I will gladly exchange peace of mind for making that trip to town when we want to get our shopping or movie fix. Plus, Century is going to be improving its image. Good Luck to you.
