After thinking about it some more and reading some of the replies I,m come to the conclusion of Florida's low paying job market to.
1. Overcrowdness - too many people thinking Florida is paradise. 2. Low High School Graduation rates, I remember Florida being one of the worst in terms of individuals who finished high school. I would assume tech companies who are based down here probably advertise up north to seek new employees. 3. Immigration 4. Older individuals who come here to retire. 5. Tourism About Florida's job agencies, Im a member of workforce one of South Florida and the majority of the jobs pay under 10 bucks per hour. If you apply for a job that pays over 10 you need to fill out a special form with some authorization, so yeah.... But Im not going to complain anymore about Florida, Im just gonna focus on getting a career in IT. If I can work for someone I'll work for myself. |

Too many people are willing to come to Florida and work for low wages for 1-2 years so they can escape the cold. Employers love to pay you in sunshine.

Thats true, I used to see it all the time when I had the bars, people have a way of telling you about themselves. Many come down to check it out, they will take any job to pay the bills. After a while they may move on and had basically a paid vacation and a little fun. They never really saw it as a life time commitment anyway, just testing the waters. Nothing wrong with that. That may represent the largest number of people who come here actually, a few years and their gone. You can't even keep the numbers on them, they never become residents they just come and go.

Honestly, I don't care. Some things are more important than money. Sunshine ain't one of the them. FAMILY IS. |

Same here HockeyMom72...my husband will be taking a major pay cut...doesn't matter. We can still manage with the pay cut & will have to budget more...but holidays, birthdays, and just weekend get-togethers will finally be spent with family & friends that we've had for years. My children will SEE their grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins...not just from pics sent over the internet. To us, by far, this is nothing money, sun or sand can buy.
