*Ignoring academics*--that seems to be commonplace in FL. It's really no wonder why FL is one of the most anti-intellectual states in the entire country.

Honest to God, UNF is a glorified community college and UCF, while in a different tier than UNF, isn't all that much better overall. If you're accepted at UF and don't attend because you don't particularly care for Gainesville or the school itself, then you should probably have your head examined--UF is, hands down, the best public university in FL.

I agree with UNF being a glorified CC. I actually lived close to UNF while working in Jacksonville. UCF, not great. FSU is better. UF is best (and I went to FSU, but got accepted to both).

"Ignoring academics" is laughable. Probably among UCF, FSU, and UF the most important thing to consider is academics and the major that you choose which will lead to overall employability. But then again, if you have something big to fall back on like a trust fund or upcoming inheritance...carry on, start looking at party school rankings.

UF has the best reputation and supposedly the best academics, tho it really just depends on your professors and let's be honest not ALL professors at UF are good....

"ignoring academics" I'd prob choose Flagler.

UNF is nothing like a community college. The State Colleges are glorified Community Colleges, not UNF though. About 10 years ago you had a point. It was still comprised of many commuter students. Now they have a plethora of graduate programs, several very competitive departments on a national scale, and they've spent hundreds of millions of dollars to revamp the campus with cutting edge technology/architecture/buildings. The difference is phenomenal in such a short time.

And I am not affiliated with UNF in any way...just very shocked by the change.

I agree, UNF has consistently in recent years ranked a "Best Buy" college by varying publications. Like UCF, it has changed dramatically and is still evolving.
