RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. -- A Riviera Beach man has as many grandchildren as candles on his birthday cake -- about 100.

Cleve Dixon's 101st birthday is on Wednesday. Born on Sept. 5, 1906, Dixon had 11 children who have produced about 100 children among them. Most of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were on hand for his barbecue party Monday.

"I've been in this world a long time," he told his family after they sang "Happy Birthday." "I've been in this house 42 years. I'm thinking I'll be here 42 more. I feel happy."

Born in Alabama, Dixon left home at the age of 13. He worked as a car dealer for about 28 years and later as a landscaper, his family told West Palm Beach television station WPBF. His wife died in 2002 at the age of 74.

I'm sorry, but that is just WAAAAY too many kids. More power to them, however, so long as they were able to afford them all without government assistance. It IS Riviera Beach though........................

A bit of history on this: A centenarian is a person who has attained the age of 100 years or more. The term is associated with longevity because average life expectancies across the world are far from 100. Much rarer, a supercentenarian is a person who has lived to the age of 110 or more.

The United States currently has the greatest number of centenarians in the world, numbering over 55,000 in the year 2005.

Congratulations...
