Default looking to move to Fla. need advice

hey I'm looking to move to Fla. but I dont know which area would be best
I wanna stay away from the hurricanes, I need a place that would be up to $650/mo in rent for 1 or 2 bedrooms, has tanning salons( spray on tanning )
schools for little kids - my daughter will be turning 4 by the time school starts,
has baby sitter options as I would like to go out at times,
has good employment options in retail or reception
also near stores and parks-beaches and zoos accessible and is in a decent safe enough neighborhood
I know it seems like alot but if anybody knows of any places like that it would be greatly appreciated

Default Don't do it!!!!!

First off, if you move to Florida, there is no way to avoid a hurricane. Second, anything under $650 for rent is in the ghetto or projects and is no where near safe. The crime here in florida is reducing, the cost of living is ridiculously high and not worth it. It's constantly hot as hell and humid. But the good thing is there are tanning salons EVERYWHERE. Sorry to break the news to you. The majority of people living here want to get out!!! But if you are looking for things to do with your children and self, West Palm Beach has a lot. And of course it's surrounding cities. Good Luck!

Retail+reception jobs are plentiful just about anywhere in Florida. As far as the $650/mo rent for a 1-2 bedroom and being near stores/parks/zoos/beaches, try the Daytona Beach area. Tanning salons??--that's what the beaches, year round sunshine and warm temps are for. Daytona also tends to be out of the hurricane paths more than most of the state because the coastline juts further westward there.

Nearly anyone with some moderate drive, effort, and determination can make it work here. Those that can't hack it move north whining and learn the fine art of windshield de-icing.

HaHaHa! Reading many of the posts in this forum is like watching a train wreck--ya can't stop watching. How much you wanna bet many of these same people complaining that they can't make a living in Florida or can't make friends in Florida will be on these forums 4 years from now saying the same things about where they moved to?

I have to agree that you will have a hard time finding a decent place to rent for the kind of money you are wanting to spend. My mother-in-law has a small rental that is only suitible for one person and it goes for around that. It would not handle 2 people, and she is an intolerable landlady (shh, don't tell her I said that!)

There is no place in Florida that is "safe" from hurricanes.

Tanning salons are everywhere, but you can get a nice tan just from being outside if you can tolerate the humidity and the mosquitoes.

Jobs for receptionists and retail clerks will be in every town. They will be relatively low paying. Florida is a right to work state, and it shows. Employers know that there will be dozens of applicants for every position that is available. If one does not work out, there is someone else waiting.
