Default florida insurance

I have lived in Florida for 16 years- it is no longer a reasonable place to live-prices have skyrocketed-and yes you expect that after so many years, unfortunately, the present administration has allowed the insurance commissioner and insurance companies to raise havoc with peoples lives and businesses. Most people in Fl are now insured by Citizens Insurance which is suppose to be the insurer of last resort but is itching up to be insurer of only resort. I have not had any claims, have not been touched by a sinkhole or hurricane and in the last 3 years my insurance has gone from $700-$1500-$3400 and we are due for a hike of another $2000 which will bring me up to over $5k for a 2100 sq ft home. Our home was appraised and Citizens does not use any specific guide but basically choses and picks as do the remaining insurance companies on what they wish to charge per $1000 for each zip code. Citizens is under investigation for mismanagement, fraud and paying of fraudulent claims while the insurance commissioner is being investigated for trading stocks in insurance companies in which he has interest while in office. The governor of Fl did not acknowledge until recently that Florida is going through an insurance crisis-there are over 4300 homes in foreclosure in one county alone. Elderly people on fixed incomes are losing their homes because the money cannot pay for food meds and insurance at the same time, businesses are moving out of state also. My advice is to wait on moving here until someone straightens out this mess. There is also a rumor stating the present administration has encouraged the insurance administration to keep hiking the insurance costs, what better way for the local developers to scoop up houses for pennies on the dollar in bank foreclosures. more developers looks for spaces for their nice new highrise condos that the middle class subsidize by paying outrageous rates for insurance. Fl residents are hurt angry and fighting mad.

I'm staying, even if I have to learn to live out of a grocery cart......! I'm not letting those *&#$+*'s drive me out of my little cottage under the oaks.

I am located in Tampa (Hillsborough county). The rates here are bad but nothing compared (yet) to those of the coastal counties in this state.
