Default Winters in Tallahassee?

I'm most likely taking a brief trip to the Tallahassee area this winter (late December/early January), and wanted to know what the winters are like...

Is it sweater and jeans weather?

That's approximately what it is in Vegas, so I'm trying to compare...

Yes it's sweater, sweatshirt or light jacket espesically in evenings. Temperatures can be as low as 30's.

Tallahassee is the icebox of Florida.

If you are there when they have a hard freeze, expect the upper teens or low 20s in the morn and the upper 40s in the after noon.

I would bring long johns. If you dont need them no problem. They arnt hard to carry in your suitcase. If you need them, you will be glad you have them.

If you need to wear long johns, why would one want to vaction there.
In Florida when it is 40 above it would probabily feel like Vegas at 50 above as Vegas has no humity compared to Florida.

Well, there aren't any Coconut Palms up yonder

Personally I'd like to have a month of sweater and long pants weather. For a change.

You are right. Those low temps are always in the middle of the night and it shoots up as soon as the sun comes up. Even if it hits 25 at night, and that would be a low for the years probably, it will be in the 40's or higher in the daytime. I have to tell you, cool weather is nice as long as you don't have to shovel snow. Put on a nice jacket and head out and you are fine. You can't say that about the heat. Other then air condition there is no way to deal with the heat other then to sweat.

Our first year it got as low as 10 degrees. However, I remember the other 2 winters were mild and since I was use to the cold weather and ppl in Florida aren't, I didn't need a jacket all the time. I didn't need a jacket for 55 degrees weather. It all depends on what you can handle but I would pack a jacket with gloves and scarf; just in case.

It can be 20 or it can be 80.

But its certainly not cold for anyone who's lived north of Georgia.
