I read a lot about Crime and bad stuff in the Fort Myers area. I think every city has its problems. We live in a medium size city , Columbus, Ga, about 220000 people and we have a murder happen almost every day here. But it seems like mostly its drug related. What are the areas of Fort Myers to stay away from?|

My husband & I were both stationed at Fort Benning...I'd take Columbus over Fort Myers any day.
What part of Fort Myers to stay away from? Basically the whole area. If you HAVE to live here, stay away from north Fort Myers, east Fort Myers, anything along Palm Beach Blvd, & anything north of Bell Tower Shops area [right before Page Park & Field]. The nicest area is right around Daniels Parkway & within a 5 mile radius of the airport. So, about 5 miles of Fort Myers is decent. |

I had a business in NFM and it's a ruff place. Cape coral didn't seem all that bad but I think thet depends on neighborhood. Then again I live 60 miles north and wouldn't move closer to work.......
