I will be moving to Navarre, Florida soon we purchased a property down there. We live in New Jersey currently and would love to hear from anyone living in that area what they love about it? Besides the gorgeous coast line. Also if anyone has a link to population/crime statistics, etc in the area I would appreciate it

Not trying to sound rude, but why would you buy property in a place that you don't know anything about?

The eastern part of the area can be considered a bedroom community for the Air Force's Hurlburt Field. There are actually some subdivisions in the area that skew heavily to Air Commandos, and rather remind me of the tv show "The Unit".

Well we chose here because my husband was with the military and was stationed down in Pensacola at one point, remembered the area, and wants to retire close to a military base. Second, my son is in the Navy, trained out of Pensacola, married and now bought a home not too far from there. Did online research plus took a trip and yes we are taking a chance. Besides who really knows the area they live until the live there. We are pioneer's. Wouldn't life be dull without some risk to it?

I lived there in the early 90s and am back in the area temporarily. This area has grown tremendously but the roads are not able to accomodate this growth. I would highly recommend you max out your insurance as accidents are the norm on Hwy 98. I used to think it was bad 15 years ago but it is extremely dangerous now.....

On the positive side, you can buy a house at a fraction of the cost they once went for!

We just got back from our second visit there and we love it! Our house is on the market and as soon as it sells, we are on our way to live there, as well! I first learned about Navarre from visiting city-data.com. Do a search for it and you'll find some more information about the area. The beaches are beautiful, homes are reasonably priced, and we found the people to be very nice and friendly. I wish we were packing now and on our way!

Navarre is only nice for the retired and more wealthy. If you're a military member/contract worker with consistant work or a professional that wants to commute to Pensacola or FWB/Destin then you will enjoy it. If you're thinking of starting again at a small beach town with a laid back atmosphere, think again. There is no oppertunity in this area for younger generations. The school system is in actuality a joke. Most of the kids are on drugs/selling drugs or pregnant. Everything is overpriced due to it being a tourist hot spot. Any rental that's not a trailer will cost you atleast 800 dollars, and that's a very small rental. And if you want to work in the service industry forever, have fun fighting the summer traffic. And those cute "beachy" places you tried on vacation turn into a nusance as soon as you've lived here for a season. Local to the panhandle and remain to be unimpressed with my hometown areas.
