4 of the towns are in SW FL. This follows picks by Money Mag's #2 pick of Cape Coral of of all US, AARP's Naples & Sarasota pick and many other sources within the last 9 months. The Sarasota to Naples area is among the best places in the US to retire according to a wide range of diverse sources. Great news. But Florida's unemployment rate is dropping, we are below 10% now. Several states ahead us, including the oft-touted NC.

NC especially suffered with many Floridians escaping the heat/congestion and our bad economy as well as the substantial numbers who moved to NC from across the country during the height of the booms in Charlotte and Raleigh/Durham. I don't think it'll be long before NC passes FL thanks to diversification of their economy, something which Florida will continue to struggle with.
