This forum has been wonderful in providing good advice and I'm desparate need of some great advice. Need to move in a few months and want to make the best choice. A single african american mother of two 5 and 16, I'm a remote employee so at this point job is not a concern. We are an active family who enjoy the heat. Want to be around entertainment for both the kids and for myself who's in the mid 30's so I do want to date and a life. I am having a hard time trying to narrow down some safe, affortable, not far from nightlife entertainment. I have been told to look at Wesley Chapel, Sunrise, New Tampa, Pembroke Pines. Great school system and safety is important. Do want to be two far from everything but don't need to be really close. My budget is around $1000 a month, my other concern is I would love to rent a house but I know with the housing market a scared to rent and the home either in forclosure or modification. Do you think it's best to rent an apartment or will I be ok renting a home, I don't want to keep moving.

In that price range you're not going to find anything safe and/or affordable in the cities you listed. I'd recommend checking out the Mandarin neighborhood of SW Jacksonville which has very good schools and quite a number of apartments, condos and townhouses in your price range. It also places you near all of the activities (family and adult) of the desirable southside area of the city.
