Hello Everyone,
Currently I am living in South East CT,
We want to get out, the price of everything and taxes are growing up, the state offers nothing… School quality is going down… we just want to get out…
I recently graduated with a BA in Computer Science
I am married and have 3 year old twin boys.

I have a good friend who lives outside of Jacksonville, FL (St Johns)
And my Wife’s family is from St Pete...
So we are entertaining moving to one of those places...
Originally it was only St Pete, but my friend said up by Jacksonville are the best (highest rated) schools in the state.
I have an applied to a few jobs in both places... I was just wondering if anyone can give me some honest pros and cons to each area...
We one a home in CT so we would have to sell that (hopefully) first...
I am looking to buy a home down there, instead of renting...
Any advice?

The North St Augustine/Jacksonville area is a vastly overlooked area of Florida in my opinion and one of my favorites. As a South Florida native I appreciate it's less congested-old Florida qualities as well as the real estate value for the dollar versus other large metro areas in the state in terms of quality of house cost per square foot. The downside to some is that it doesn't feel as Florida-like as some areas in terms of palm trees and such but still of course has beautiful beaches nearby being on the coast. There's just one area in the St Pete metro I would recommend as highly which is the Palm Harbor/East Lake area at the extreme north end of Pinellas County. It has a similar feel to St Johns County (less congested than the rest of Pinellas County) which is the downside in my opinion as the Tampa Bay area's traffic/congestion can be too much for some.
