Advertisements

Everytime I turn on the TV, I'm inundated with ads for lawyers. On the radio, same thing. Ask Gary & 800-411-Pain seem to be the biggest offenders.

Are people in FL "sue happy"? To me, all these ads send the wrong message about this state.

If you notice they mostly have to do with car crashes. And after you have driven in FL you can see why there are so many car crashes.

Probably because the bigger law firms paid off legislators about 10-15 years ago and got the law changed so they can advertise. It's not legal in all states.

This is your answer.

They advertise down here... because they can. The same can't be said for all other states.

Remember when cigarette ads were half or more the ads on TV? If you are over 40 or some age like that you do. I am not a big fan of government control of tv ads because that just hurts the advertisers, but that the lawyers can afford those huge offices and still buy half the ads on TV is pretty incredible the money that they must roll in.

Is there some organization that supports legal reform in the US, not just stopping advertising but something real and true reform based to stop the US going down the drain?

-tourist
-old people homes who beat their residents

Ask Gary and 411 Pain are "lawyer referral" services. They get around the rules for lawyer advertising that are actually quite strict (Florida Bar imposed vs. statutory).

You'll also note a lot of lawyer advertising during "unemployment tv" hours (between noon and 4) and the "Judge Judy" type shows.

I don't think this is as common as most people think. Attorneys prefer a younger person on a botched surgery, then they can say you caused my client to lose his earning power like 40k a year x 27 years, if the client was 40.

At 78 they can't do that, the doctors flat out screwed my dad up and I couldn't get anyone to take the case. A head RN at a prestigious hospital said to sue you have to get one DR. to snitch on another, not likely. One Dr. even laughed and said that's why they say we're "practicing" medicine.

Teens cause more wrecks than the elderly and the elderly usually have insurance.

These lawyers are fishing for idiotic get-thrown-our-of-court cases from people who don't know better but the lawyer still gets paid.

What do you call 10,000 lawyers marching into the ocean and drowning?
A good start.
