Default Animal Rescues

Does anyone know the name of some no kill animal rescues in the Broward/Palm Beach area that are actually still active?

My father passed away and left 2 Pomeranians that I can not care for.

Pomeranians will get snatched up quickly even at a "traditional" animal shelter. Small, fluffy dogs are highly sought after.

You can also try placing an ad in the paper.

"Dogs and Cats Forever" in Saint Lucie County (about 40 mins from West Palm Beach) is a no-kill shelter though.

I know the Safe Harbor administrator, Linda Kinder. It is a no kill shelter. Here is their website Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary & Hospital, a no kill facility. If you need help in any way, let me know. I can assist you.

Are there any shelters that accept animals? I called safe harbor and they only take sick or injured animals.

I was a Vet Tech in Broward, I have heard only really good things about them. I cannot say the same for others mentioned here.

Thank you so much everyone. I found a great home for them with an older couple around the block from where my father lived. They saw the dogs everyday and always loved them.

Actually had a disturbing development. I called several shelters and while they had no room they put calls out to their wish list people. Well 1 person that called back was this very ignorant sounding woman and was not very polite that just called and said "I want the dogs."

My wife said we will have to call her back. We ended up finding a home for them yesterday but this girl calls back and says she wants the dogs and would be willing to take both. She then asks if they can have babies.

At that point I felt sick because I knew she just wanted to make money off them and probably would not care for them.

Luckily we found them a good home. True there are worse things in the world and i am probably just more sensitive to it due to losing my father but it bugged me. My son has made me such a softy.
