The seller should have signed the title over to you when you bought the car. If not I would contact the seller and ask him or her to do so. There is a place right on the title for that to occur. You then take the title in to get a new one issued in your name.

Official Website Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

Bring the "Notice of Sale" form from that link, money, a DL, the title, and proof of FL insurance.

Bring the car if it is from another state as they will have to verify the VIN and mileage.

You bought a car and don't have it's title?

Not sure you bought a car, man. Is it in your possession?

We gave a deposit we are meeting the seller tomorrow for inspection of the car at our mechanic No we aren't dumb enough to pay for a car and not have it in our possession, however 1st time doing this wanted to make sure everyone's ducks are in a row
I have a receipt for the deposit and he will have a bill of sale tomorrow before we go to DMV...So I just need my Drivers License and Insurance card?

I didn't mean to give the impression I doubted your judgement.

I once bought a car that was not presented as a salvage title until the seller had check in hand. I found out that he had just gotten out of prison for stealing farm equipment. Though the car was fine, it was storm damage and had all been repaired, though there were tiny glass shards in the carpet and I never did take off the vents and get the mud they missed in the vents. A 3 year old Saturn for $5k and only 60k miles, I should have known something was up.
