We've lived in Nassau County since 2007 and have had paper, plastic, glass and aluminum recycling all that time. When we first moved in, they would not take cardboard, but that is supposed to change this year.

We have single stream recycling and are given a huge rolling cart. Works great.

But I have seen places in FL not up to speed on recycling for whatever reason.

Worst thing I ever remember was once where we lived they said if you have a freezer or ref to recycle make a call to this special number so it can be handled specially. They are supposed to come out, drain any freon, etc. Well after I called the number this big truck with jaws came out and sliced it open and crushed it up, never removing the freon gas. That was some time ago, hopefully that stuff does not go on anymore.

Recycling on our street in North Port is very popular-even the guy next door who has a derelict property puts his bin out.
