My mom had to sell her condo because the mold was so infested inside the walls. She inherited the place from her mom, who didn't run it much toward her later years.

It's ok to not run your AC all the time, but not running it all summer is not good at all. Drywall is a sponge for moisture, if it is incredibly humid like it is down here in FL, leaving the AC off all the time, one is asking for mold growth. Mold grows on and in drywall because of it's being porous, and it's ability to absorb humidity. I have been in apartments where the residents go against their lease mold addendum(it states you need to run your AC to avoid mold growth) by never running the AC, then all of a sudden they open a closet to find mold growing everywhere, on everything, especially leather. Then they act shocked??? AC removes humidity and acts as a dehumidifier. If you have a dark closet, AC off, that is mold paradise. Night time is when the humidity runs highest, it would be better to leave it off all day, on at night. I have seen where a resident moves out whom never ran the AC, then they move the sofa and furniture and low and behold the walls have green, black, or pink mold behind them. So they take their furniture to where they move, carry the spores there, and start all over. So yes it is smart to run your AC during the summer here in FL. I could not sleep for a minute if I did not have my AC on at night, I will never get how people can leave it off????

Me neither, being sweaty and laying in a bed is just nasty IMO. I can only imagine the smell on some people's mattresses.

There needs to be an emoticon for barfing...LOL. Yeah that is a wonderful thought. I have been in apartments where the residents never use the AC and it for SURE has a distinct STINK. I am not joking either. Some have a sweat smell, some just smell damp, some smell like mildew... Pretty gross. AC VERY IMPORTANT....

Anyone not running their A/C today has either; A) a non-working A/C or B) some medical condition like internal parasites that makes them think this weather is just lovely.

Or their electronics have passed their health checkup and don't need that extra boost of colder air, lol.

Why do you assume that people who do not run their AC are sweaty and laying in bed? Many people are just fine in hot weather and do not sweat hardly at all, especially in the evening.

Or has a nice sea breeze that cools the place down, and is shaded from the west during the afternoon. This weather is great, that is why I moved here!

I guess you don't know much about electronics. Excessive moisture increases the conductivity of insulators leading to malfunction. Too low humidity may make materials brittle. A particular danger to electronic items is condensation. When an electronic item is moved from a cold place (e.g., garage, car, shed, an air conditioned space in the tropics) to a warm humid place (house, outside tropics), condensation may coat circuit boards and other insulators, leading to possible short circuits inside the equipment. Short circuits cause damage if the equipment is powered on before the condensation has had a chance to evaporate. It is advisable to allow electronic equipment to acclimatise for several hours, after being brought in from the cold, before powering on. With low humidity Static Electricity becomes an issue. Therefore, proper temperature control of the environment will help electronics live a long life.

I guess some people are unable to comprehend that some people actually like warm weather and moved to where there is weather they like instead of staying in a locale that they do not like, with weather they do not like and just complain all the time.

Some of those same people even make up statistics (or can't do math) about places they have never been.

I think some people are simply malcontents and wouldn't be happy no matter where they lived. After all, all these chronic complainers left somewhere to get here.
