Clermont vs. Lakeland
Hi everyone,
Would anyone be able to help us? We're thinking of retiring in 3-5 years. Afraid of prices jumping up again, we want to start looking soon, while prices are a bit more stable . I've heard about Clermont being a nice place and same about Lakeland. We're still young at heart and don't want to move to a community where funerals are the weekly gatherings (too deprecing).
We would need to rent the property until we are ready to make the move. What do you think? Advice? Guidance?
Thanks so much.

I think you need to tell us more specifically what is important to you in a town, as these two places are apples and oranges. I suggest reading the Wikipedia pages on each town to give you an overview, and then ask specific questions. We just moved to Lakeland, and we LOVE IT! I'm a Florida native, and as far as I'm concerned, it's the best Florida town I've lived in.

What I'm aiming at is can you take a walk without worrying about being mugged, raped, etc. Some people say the crime rate is very high in Clermont, especially around route 50 (???). I've read some where that it's actually less than the nation's average. Same thing about Lakeland. So, I'm a bit lost. What to believe???
What's important to me...I guess the same that's important to the majority of people who want to live in peace and harmony. Nice quite place where people care about their property and their neighborhood and teach their children how to live in civilized society.
Is Lakeland like this?
Thanks
