It seems like these types of headlines are too far and in between as of late here in Florida, but we have to give props when it's due.

We still have a ways to go, but lets all try and keep the momentum going with this and continue to support our children 110% with there studies, urging our local and state reps to put pressure on the government to increase funding for our education system, and if possible volunteer at your local school. It will, and is making a difference!

Definately give credit. Education is a huge issue for Floridanes, since it's not historically one of the state's strongest points. One reason is that there are too many non-english speaking kids taking tests in English. Obviously, this leads to lower test scores. It's not an issue of whether or not these kids have apptitude. They do! It's a language barrier issue. This includes kids who speak ebonic.

Something is obviously be done right. Hopefully, the positive trend will continue. It is only fair for the children who deserve a good education no matter what state they live in.

These trends MUST continue if Florida is diversify its economy beyond the old standbys of real estate development, construction and tourism. An improving educational system will attract major employers and good jobs, and parents will be a little less reluctant to relocate here.
