Default Crestview, FL Info Needed

We are considering a move to Crestview from Wisconsin. What's the story with the housing market - why are there so many homes available? Would you advise against moving to that area for some reason? What about property taxes in general?

Houses are plentiful and the prices are great at this time. Many military families live in the area. Companies such as L3 Comm, AIC, Boeing, etc are the ones that lead the aerospace industry in the area. Crestview is growing everyday because of the lower cost of housing compare to FWB. I do have a few friends that live in the area and they are very satisfied with their choice.

Do a search in the Florida forum for Crestview, many post that can answer your questions.

Good luck...

Happy New Year!

Well, from my perspective, having worked @ Eglin, and now @ Herbie..

Alot of Eglin peeps live in Crestview (or sometimes referred to derogatively as "Crestucky"). Believe me, the housing you get for your dollar is AMAZING. Lots of beautiful rolling hills, new schools, lots of activity going on. Think of Crestview as a small sleepy southern town, that is in the process of being gentrified. DR Horton, Adams Homes, etc. etc. are all making their new bucks there due to the growth. There's alot of money in the killing business.

Also, hurry if you can. There is an Army division that will be bringing an estimated 8,000 new bodies to the area. The price range of say $140k-$250k will be hot when that happens, so alot of developers seem to be building out to be ready for the influx.

Sunrico is right. We have ALOT of defense contractors out here. Most of the Herbie (Hurlburt Field) peeps I work with are in Navarre, Ft. Walton Beach, or Destin.

If you have a security clearance, and technical, managerial, procurement, or mechanical skills in the areas of aerospace, defense, etc. you should be able to find a decent paying gig here. General Dynamics, BAE Systems, L3 Communications (the Titan bunch that got bought), Lockheed Martin, Boeing (they have a local presence office in Ft. Walton Beach) Jacobs Technology, Cimmaron, Northrup Grumman, etc. are all partying here like rockstars. LOL!

With the increase in temp w. the UAV's and more deployment strength w. joint forces in the "Stans" this place is going to be "blowin up" even more.

Best wishes!

sb

Crestview is growing very quickly. The most affordable properties in this area seem to be in Crestview. You get more bang for your buck there. Many builders in NW Fl went overboard and overbuilt. But there seems to be a steady influx of people into Crestview. Many Military families and when BRAC
really starts we can expect to see more. Crestview is "evolving" .
