Hi...Check out the semi rural area called Mims. It's about 6 miles from the city of Titusville where there is plenty of shopping. It's also about 39 miles east of Orlando....some really nice homes in a subdivison called Fawn Lake in Mims. Most all homes there have an acre or more...prices are really good right now.

Firstly you need to decide where you want to look. At the moment from what you are saying you will be looking at an area equivalent in the UK to Brighton, Norfolk and Devon. This is just not possible in one week and my suggestion is to narrow it down to one area. Like the UK they all offer completely different things. Do you want coast, theme parks or lakes? Do you want to rent your home out when you are not using it or is it only for you and your family?
Also just for your information that area you are staying in is pretty nasty...You may want to rethink your location.
You will need to find yourself a realtor specialised in the area you have chosen. Home viewing works differently here than in the UK.
Anyway good luck with your home search.

Think about Vero Beach, about 100 miles south of the Space Coast. Beautifully uncluttred, great little downtown, sweet Ocean Drive shops, and some good restaurants.

Don't use a realtor. Go with the for sale by owner websites. Deal directly with the owners. They can email you tons of pictures of the properties.
You will be able to negotiate a much better deal when you take that 6% of the sale price off the table.

You never find anything. You look up a city and there will be like three listings, if any, in FSBO sites. You look at Realtor.com and you find 500. Who cares if they have a realtor, you make an offer and their realtor switches sides and starts trying to get them to take your offer anyway, like they work for you. They want a commission and won't have to split it with another realtor if they can close your sale. By the way, the people with FSBO are doing it because they want to put that 6% in their pocket, no give it to you. Nothing wrong doing both though.

When are you leaving? I would travel West on I-4 and then south on I-75 and get off at the Apollo Beach exit and make your way south along the islands and beach towns. Check out Anna Maria Island, Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Casey Key, Manasota Key and Boca Grande. Great deals on beach properties right now!
Have fun!
