I find the beach much more available in Flagler than Ormond beach where theres a whole bunch of hotels/condos and houses abutting the beach area whereas Flagler has no construction other than the pier on the ocean side of A1A, also Ormond is kinda like Daytona suburbia north whereas Flagler is its own little community.

Have you considered renting for a few months before tying yourself down with a house that you may come to discover isnt in an ideal a location as you thought.Be a bit frustrating to lock yourself into Ormond Beach only to discover you end up wishing you'd moved to some other beachside community.

jambo101,
NOTE: My hubby and I hv researched these areas in FL for months/years. We've watched the availability of homes in these areas. Yes our orig plan was to move aft the holidays, pay for PODS storage for all our belongings for possibly 1-3 months, (expensive in addition to renting a furnished rental for a month or more) and rent a furnished rental in FL while we look. And decide on a place to rent. Note we hv a dog. We've talked long and hard about this in the last few days. A house has come up in one of the communities we were interested in, on the ocean. In our price range. Most other oceanfront properties we had seen were above our price range. This one is doable. We are pretty sure we are gonna love the location. That's why we made the choice to fly to FL this week to look at this home. See the community see the home. And ask ourselves, "can we sign a one year lease knowing we would be happy living here for at least one year?" Even if it was ideal or not. There is never THE PERFECT HOME that has everything on your wish list. After that time, we could always decide to move elsewhere in FL if we decided we didn't wanna stay... right? And meanwhile, get to know FL and the surrounding communities while we live there ... instead of moving into a furnished rental w so much uncertainty as to where our final home will be...
Thoughts?
We fly out later today to look at this property and see it with our own eyes.

Nice to see you are doing your home work, it will definitely pay off, too many just arrive with no knowledge of an area and immediately buy a property and hope they like the experience of the community.Let us know how it turns out..

We live in Ormond By The Sea and we love it. Ormond Beach is only about 4 miles away and Flagler Beach is about 10 miles North. We are close to shopping, beach, church and is a beautiful community. We are renting but want to buy.

To all,
we are renting a home now on the sea in Ormond By The Sea and love it!
We couldn't be happier there and know we made the right decision for us.. we love the area even more than Flagler.. the beaches are wider and nicer and so much quieter... plus we lucked out.. we're renting a home on the ocean for a year...
feeling so blessed. xo
