Me and my family currently live in ky and have a opportunity to move to our dream state. Also hernando is kinda like home for us with all the water fishing and nature. We are a mixed family i am 43 and black my wife is 30 and white and we have 5 kids 16,14,10,7,&5 . Need any input on this town good and bad. We want to make sure it is a place we can be safe and prosper and live the rest of our lives out happy. I am a high school football coach and and we also have a fitness center here that would possibly take to hernando. We also do pressure washing and mobile car detailing as well as home improvement. All info will help.

If you're locked in on that area I would recommend nearby Crystal River over Hernando which is a bit more diverse and less conservative (i.e. judgmental) in my opinion. If you don't mind being a bit further, Ocala would be the best fit in being the largest town in the area (and most diverse), as well as offering more to do and more opportunity in terms of work and things to do for the kids. The SE side of town puts you in the Ocala Forest HS district which is the best in the area.

Is it a place that will give is a chance to be part of the community or would it be unsafe for my family.. its my only option to get out of ky. And. Thinking if we can survive a year there then maybe move to a mpre open place and still work there

OP, I live in Hernando and I don't see your relationship being a problem all though you'll see your fair share of stars and bars flying around here and run into the occasional racist. Prospering here is going to be a challenge, right now we're suffering from some of the worst unemployment in the state of FL. The anti-business mood by our elected officials is in full swing. It's very much seasonal around here with roads and restaraunts getting crowded in the winter months...moreso than the larger metros that at least have a little manufacturing to back them up. The good is there are tons of anything from vacant lots to Mcmansions for sale cheap and everything in between. It's a good place to raise a family....Citrus High School is a little sketchy but the middle schools are good.

We have a chance to take a job at a1value inn. Tryn to get it straightened out. Do u kno anything about the place? Is it a chance for us to make it running that place. I have a roofer and small work crew coming down also. And i do pressure washing on houses and cars. I also have been coaching high school football for 16 years. Just want a chance for a better future for my family. And am willling to relocate if need be. I understand the country is down all around. I just want to kno what others feelings are about the town. I'm not familiar with a1value inn. Is it a motel? There are a couple of motels on US 41 near 486. There's a fair amount of roofing going on as well as pressure washing but these days it's hard to get homeowners to spend money. This County seems split on people like myself that want progress, environment be damned and then there's the status quo crowd who just want to treat this whole area like a nature preserve and leave things as they are...the good ole boy scenario. A lot of people living in Citrus rely on Ocala and in particular The Villages (which it's population swells up significantly during the winter months) for work.
