CIOP Windstorm Inspector
My name is John and I have been doing re-inspections for Citizens Insurance for the past 6 months. 1st thing anybody that is expecting or has had an inspection, to determine their homes vulnerability to Windstorm damage, should understand that as an inspector it is nothing personal. This is a job like any other. You do your work and get paid. The only compensation we receive, and very little I should add, is for the original inspection. NO KICBACKS. I have seen every conceivable combination of Hurricane protection on hundreds of homes and that is were the problem lies. Policy holders are uninformed about what is currently acceptable to maintain their current credits. The My Safe Florida Home program was to say the least a joke! Not all contractors that were involved in that program were bad but many just saw a way to make a quick buck. Unscrupulous contractors reporting erroneous features to insurance companies is one of the main reasons the new re-inspection program is alive and well. Insurance company's do what ever they have to to make money. They will look for any loophole to raise rates. Your responsibility as a homeowner is to be informed. Call your agent, check the web or call your insurance company directly. The only one that can save you money is YOU!
