Default florida doing bad?

I would like some one to tell me about how florida is doing, I used to live in Arcadia from 81 to 89, when I left you could buy a new all brick 3bed 2bath home with 2 car gar. on 1ac with paved drive for 52k, Now I see that you need from 189 to 250 to buy the same.
I have a brother who moved 25 miles outside of Tampa, he moved with dad and me in the early 80s, we all would work, I stayed and they moved back and forth, every time they needed a money injection they came back and worked for 6 months or a year.
Now I moved to Arkansas, and they went back to Tampa, they worked for the first part of the summer and now say that they can not find any work.
First time in decades, They said that work has slowed tremendously and that what work is there they keep getting bids cut in half by mexcian workers.
My brother also told me that there was a news artical on the tube that said that Orlando was doing horrible with homes, stats were 16 homes for every buyer, 52 forclosures a week and the like, WOW has florida really come full circle or what.
Can anyone elaborate on this info? thanks
